After reading this review of My Resume Format —you will have a clearer idea and know for sure if you should build your next resume using the platform.
So, let’s get started.
About My Resume Format
My Resume Format is a freemium resume builder with various contemporary resume templates that allows one to design his/her own CV in the displayed style. It is a brainchild of IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Delhi and Amity alumni.
Having worked as developers and designers with HR collaborations, they devised a simple but effective resume builder that is easy to use and equipped with AI assistance.
Their core vision is to enable jobseekers to generate not just a beautiful looking resume but also suggest job responsibilities to ease up the resume making process.
My Resume Format Resume Builder Review
Going into the website, I imagined myself as someone who is a fresh graduate. I immediately took notice of the tagline: ‘Easiest Resume Builder, ’ which made me feel at ease. The website looks clean, professional, and trusted.
I then proceeded to click on the ‘Create a Resume’ button, and immediately a set of formats were presented for me to choose.
As you can see above, one of the formats labeled ‘College Resume’ is free so naturally that’s what I selected.
The other formats have a ‘Pro’ tag on them which suggests that there must be a corresponding price to pay to use the service. I hope I won’t get baited to create a resume, but then have to pay in the end.
Anyways, after choosing a resume format I was redirected to a page where I am to choose my experience (Student, Entry Level, Experienced, or Executive) as well as the career field in:
- Accounting and Legal.
- Art and Design.
- Product Design.
- Hospitality and Tourism.
- Human Resources.
- Non Profit.
- Social Media.
- Software and IT.
- Entertainment and Media.
I chose ‘Entry-Level’ as my experience and ‘Business’ as my career field for the purposes of this review.
After that, I am taken to a page where I can enter my basic information.
I filled out my basic information and proceeded to the next page. But before I can continue, I have to create an account (which is standard).
Before I signed up, I noticed that you can actually sign up as a job seeker or an employer. We’ll explore more of the job seeker’s perspective in this article.
Anyways, after signing up I was able to continue editing my resume. I was redirected to a page where I can edit my professional summary.
Amazingly, the My Resume Format Resume Builder has a lot of templates to choose from. This helped me jumpstart my ideas on what to put on my professional summary.
Notice on the image above that you are also able to format your summary through the different options.
After editing the professional summary, I was redirected to the page where I can edit my education.
I’d like to note that the fields in this section aren’t required (but it is better if you fill them out).
Now, let’s say, for example, you accidentally clicked next. No worries, as the My Resume Format resume builder allows you to go back and edit the previous sections by clicking ‘back.’
You can then click on the edit icon beside the trash can icon. You also have an option to add another school if you have studied multiple courses. Simply click on the ‘add another’ button.
Anyways, after filling out the fields of your education, you then proceed to your professional experience.
It was a breeze to fill out the fields, and add a description because suggested templates are given. You can compose from scratch, or choose just to add the templates.
After that, I proceeded to add my skills. If you’re unsure of what skills you have, you don’t have to worry as My Resume Format resume builder has different templates for you to add.
If you can’t find your skill in the list of templates, you can just select ‘add new,’, and you will be able to type in your skill manually.
You can also rate your skills from 1 to 5 stars to further highlight which skills you are adept or experienced with.
So far, it has been a breeze making my resume, and after adding the different skills that I possess, I am redirected to the page where I get an overview of the resume that I had just built.
Not to worry if you clicked on ‘save & next’ too soon, as the resume builder provides options for you to go back to whatever section you need to edit.
So, it looks like a pretty standard, single-column resume with the much-needed details that an employer is looking to find.
You can still change the format, font, style, and look of your resume with the different options above.
If you subscribe to ‘Pro’, you will be able to choose 4 other different styles.
Overall, here are the parts that will have to edit to make your resume more interesting:
- Professional Summary.
- Work Experience.
If you are satisfied with how your resume looks, you can click on the ‘Download’ button, and in less than 10 seconds, your resume should be ready!
The resume was downloaded in a PDF format that you can simply download on your laptop or personal computer.
I must say I am satisfied with the results of building my resume, given the simplicity of the processes. I would have wanted more templates to choose from, but I know that My Resume Format team will work to add more in the future.
My Resume Format Cover Letter Builder
In addition to the resume builder, the website also has a cover letter builder. In my other articles, I have stressed how important a cover letter is to a resume.
So, the cover letter builder of the website is pretty simple and basic. There’s a pre-written cover letter that you can edit to however you want your letter to look like.
You can choose from 2 designs by clicking the ‘Change Format’ button.
To edit the cover letter, you have to scroll down and click on the ‘Edit Cover Letter’ button. After that, you simply have to type in the missing details such as:
- Your Address.
- Phone Number.
- Date of your Application.
- Recipient Name.
- Job Title of the Recipient.
- Company Name.
- Address of the Company you’re applying for.
Once done, you can simply make some revisions of the body of the letter. You can even make one from scratch. If you’re a newbie, this is very helpful to give you an idea of what to type in your letter.
Once you are satisfied, you can go ahead and download your cover letter with a simple click of the ‘Generate PDF’ button. The file can automatically be saved in PDF format on your computer.

I am impressed by the thoroughness of the filters. What I found lacking, though, was the lack of jobs available.
However, I am positive that the My Resume Format team is working to connect with more employers so that applicants may search for jobs.
I did click on an available job, and it led me here:
I can say that this job-board website feature has potential as the design is very easy and straightforward. You can also see the details of the employer, as well as the similar jobs you may want to apply for.
I clicked the ‘Apply Now’ button, and I can see I can easily apply for the job, or upload a new resume that can fit the job description.
The website also has some interesting articles on their blog. It hosts different articles from how to prepare for job interviews to different career objectives for different jobs.
3. FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
This part of the website has almost all the details that you might want to ask about. Instead of sending the team an email to ask a question, you can check out their FAQ page here.

My Resume Format Reviews
I found a review on Product Hunt and the website got a 5 out of 5 stars rating out of 12 reviews.
The most common denominator is that the users loved the simplicity of the User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) because the website is so easy to use. Based on my experience, I agree with them on that.
Final Thoughts — Should You Build Your Resume Using My Resume Format
First of all, I appreciate the simplicity of the website. Simplicity in this context means that I was able to build a resume and cover letter without spending too much time. It felt effortless, plus the service is free for the most part.
A couple of things that I think I want to see in the future are:
- More templates to choose from for the PRO packages — I feel that some users might want to get more creative with their resumes/cover letter.
- More Jobs in the JobBoard — To complete the experience of the users, I think that more jobs should be made available on their website.
Overall, I am satisfied with the final products that I have built through their resume and cover letter builders. The website indeed is true to its tagline: “Easiest Resume Builder.”
I can say that I would recommend this for those who want to create resumes and cover letters easily.
