Building a Resume with LiveCareer
To use the resume builder of LiveCareer, you simply have to click on the ‘Get Started’ button on the homepage.
Creating a resume with LiveCareer should be easy with 3 simple steps:
- Select a template from our library of professional designs.
- Build your resume with our industry-specific bullet points.
- Download your resume, print it out, and get it ready to send!
To start, click the ‘Create My Resume’ button. You will be asked different questions, to which your answers will help personalize your resume.
Depending on the age range that you choose, there will be a corresponding number of recommended templates.
If you want more choices, you can click on the ‘All’ tab to view all the templates. There are over 31 templates for you to choose from.
You can even preview each template by hovering over it to see how it would look.
There are also 9 colors to choose from to customize your template.
Once you have selected a template, you will get the option to either create your resume from scratch or upload a resume to be reformatted.
I chose to create a new resume for this review.
The resume builder looks very clean and easy on the eyes. There is a progress bar on top with 6 sections to fill out:
- Work History.
You can also preview your resume by clicking the ‘preview’ button.
Before moving on to the ‘work history’ section, LiveCareer will give you some tips.
Filling out the fields is also easy since some fields have an autofill feature, which suggests the job titles to type depending on the keyword you entered.
Editing the job description of the title is easy because there are pre-written examples for you to select.
You can also format the words on the job description field to create emphasis. Once satisfied, you can click on the ‘Next’ button, and you will be asked to sign up so your work won’t be lost.
Signing up is easy because you can sign up with your Google or Facebook accounts, or register using your email.
After the registration, we continue to edit our resume.
If you have multiple job experiences, you can click on ‘Add Another Position’ and fill out the different fields.
If you’re done, you can proceed to the next section by clicking the ‘Next: Education’ button to find another tip.
Building my resume using LiveCareer has been seamless so far, and I like my experience.
Again, filling out the fields is easy because there are pre-written examples to help you get started.
You can also choose to either add a description to your education degree or not.
Don’t forget to click on the ‘Tips’ button beside the ‘Preview’ button to get some much-needed guidelines.
Once you are done filling out the ‘Education’ section, you can proceed to the next.
The skills section will help inform your future employer about what you can contribute to their company.
You can utilize the search box to look up pre-written examples that fit the job title that you are applying for.
Once done, you are ready to summarize your resume. Simply click the ‘Next: Summary’ button.
This section will briefly explain to your employer who you are and what you can bring to their company.
You won’t be surprised, as creating a summary is also easy because there are different pre-written examples to choose from.
You can also compose from scratch, and use the different formatting tools to emphasize some words.
After the summary, you can add more sections to your resume by clicking the ‘Next: More Sections’ button.
You can add these sections to make your resume more appealing and interesting:
- Websites, Portfolios, Profiles.
- Additional Information.
- Add Your Own — You can create a new section.
More fields will be made available for you to put content on.
Once you’re done editing the different sections, you can now finalize your resume.
You can check your resume for spelling errors by clicking the ‘Spell Check’ button in the final section.
You can also customize the layout of your resume by selecting another template, color, or formatting.
You can also go back to each section by hovering and clicking on the particular part you want to edit.
If you are satisfied, you can download your resume by clicking the ‘download’ button.
You can download your resume as a PDF, Plain Text, or MS Word Document.
However, the finished content isn’t free as you must be subscribed to full access which we will discuss in the next part of this article.
Building a Cover Letter with LiveCareer
To use LiveCareer’s cover letter builder, simply click on the ‘Create a Cover Letter’ button under the tab ‘Add a Cover Letter’ on your dashboard.
Here you will be asked of the job title you are applying for. You will get suggestions as you type different keywords on the ‘Desired Position’ field.
If you are unsure, click on ‘I don’t have any jobs in mind’.
There is also a progress bar to show how much completed the details on your cover letter are.
I think that the different questions that are being asked in the cover letter builder will yield a pre-written template on the body of your letter.
LiveCareer also aims to customize your cover letter based on how much working experience you have.
I don’t feel like I am editing a cover letter (which is good). It’s as if I am filling out an application form.
LiveCareer will even help explain any work gaps you may have.
Different work gap reasons are also provided.
So far, I am breezing through the cover building process. It doesn’t even take me a minute to answer each question.
Once you’ve answered all the pertinent questions, you will proceed to finalize your cover letter.
On this part of the cover letter builder, you can change the template and see the overview of the contents of your cover letter.
Other tabs like ‘Formatting’ allow you to change the font style, size, margins, and more.
You can also rearrange the different sections of your cover letter, or add more such as availability, confidentiality, relocation, or salary requirements.
Right next to the ‘Manage Sections’ tab is a ‘Spell Check’ feature, which makes sure that your letter has no spelling errors.
You can also change the ‘Letter Type’ and choose from different options such as Career Change, Internship, Manager, and more.
Once you made all the changes you need and are satisfied with your cover letter’s contents, you can Download, Print, or Email your letter.
I am delighted and amazed because the contents of the letter look very professional and profound.

LiveCareer Job Board
Once you’ve made your resume and cover letter with LiveCareer, it’s time to apply for a job! Luckily, LiveCareer also has a job board page where you can apply.
You can drag and drop your resume to search for a job based on the contents of your resume by clicking the ‘Recommended’ tab, or you can opt to manually search for a job by clicking on the ‘Search’ tab.
You can specify your search by entering a job title and location. But, you can narrow it down by filtering the search results by radius, time, job title, or company.
You can also sort by relevance, date posted, or location.
If you’re not looking to apply today, you can save any job vacancy that you see by clicking the ‘heart’ button on any job.
If you have found the job you want to apply for, you can go ahead and click on the ‘Apply on Company Site’ button, and you will be redirected to a specific site.
I am very impressed with the features so far. Not only was I able to create professional-looking resumes and cover letters, but I can also immediately use them to apply for a job right away.

I had a great time making my resume and cover letter. In a positive manner, it made me feel like I was answering an application sheet because you only have to answer questions, and pre-written examples are provided.
The software is very simple to use and straightforward. It didn’t take me 15 minutes to make a resume, cover letter, then apply for a job.
I also love their job board because it completes the entire experience. I would consider upgrading to an all-access account because the features and benefits outweigh the price.
