A college degree can be a good base for a job interview, but you need some sugar on the bread before applying for a job. Certification can be a good area to explore before the placement season. Its because they highlight your area of interest and add actual value to your skills.

This doesn’t mean that you can add unrelated and unnecessary certifications to your CV and then expect a top paying job. It has to be related to what you do, or more importantly, it has to add value somehow to the company you are hoping to join.

The scope of marketing is as vast as the seven oceans. It’s a very creative field, and you can shape the things around you with your ideas. Whether you prefer traditional marketing or the new generation of digital marketing, there are many certifications that will help to develop your skills.

Digital Marketing Certified Associate Training, is a course conducted by Brad Geddes. It simplifies 9 different aspects of digital marketing and is a great place to learn the nitty-gritty of digital marketing.

The University of Vermont’s Digital Marketing Fundamentals Certificate can be a good start to understand the basics in a refreshing way. It can be completed in 3 months and is quite affordable and concise.

Duke University conducts an online course in digital marketing named Digital Media and Marketing Certificate.       Here students can learn at their own pace.

Computer Programming can be called the bed on which the whole world works. It’s needed everywhere and the sheer number of fields programming can be branched off to is enormous. But the basic things you learn in programming are the same for every niche. So you can diversify or change your career easily at a later stage.

The Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) certifications are extremely valued by the IT industry, as they cover the core areas of programming in details. Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) also conducts a number of online courses and gives certifications in various disciplines. Some notable ones are GIAC Information Security Fundamentals, Security Essentials Certification, Certified Incident Handler, and the law of Data Security & Investigations.


These are some of the certifications that will boost your placement chances. Along with these, you can take a look at other certifications that helps you with essential skills like communication, leadership, work ethics, etc. They are as necessary as your working skills.

But remember that at the end of the day, more than certifications, it’s the actual skills you learn that will make the difference. So keep your eyes and ears open and try to understand what the industry demands and where exactly your skill sets fit in.
